Cafe Mai:lish Report

Hello, this is M, the concept-cafe writer!

The concept cafe I went to this time was Cafe Mai:lish, the maid cafe that served as the model for the maid cafe "MayQueen Nyan2" that appears in Steins;Gate!

You see, this time too I had an investigation order from up top, but this maid cafe is quite far from the station; from Akihabara Station it's about a 15-minute walk. I wondered whether there could really be such an amazing shop in a spot so far from the station, and... I was stunned when I went in! There were so many Steins;Gate goods! The counter was packed with goods from Steins;Gate and the rest of the Science Adventure game series. Lots of figures and Blu-ray (maybe DVD?) jackets were lined up. There was even an autograph by Haruko Momoi on the Faris-tan panel.

If I could, I'd have wanted to sit at the window seat just like in the original, but there was already someone there... Reluctantly, I sat at the counter, and the foreigners sitting at the window seat were saying words like "Mayuri's turn" and "Kurisu's turn"... I was curious. What kind of conversation were they having? Ugh! If only I had more English ability...

This shop is apparently certified as a place with delicious black tea, but... still, what I was curious about was the Steins;Gate collaboration menu. I'd skipped lunch entirely going there, so among the collaboration menus I ordered the "The World Is in Trouble Omurice." For an extra 300 yen on the collaboration menu you get a laminated card, so I took one while I was at it.

You know, quietly, this place doesn't charge a table fee, so it's gentle on the wallet. Maybe it was just my imagination, but the maids treated me naturally without too much pandering, which made me happy. Well, I'm not much of a talker to begin with, though...

Finally, here's a shot from the angle of the staircase near the entrance that I'd often seen in the anime.
